“The Subversion of Lace” draws upon the 1890s era for inspiration- coming from the padded structures of the clothing and the laces used in the garments.
To adapt this for a conventional market, the ideas have been subverted using padding in unsual parts of garments and textiles as well as attempting to push the idea and use of lace further than ever before.
The laces of this garment have been dyed, printed, foiled and layered to push and develop the textile manipulations and subvert the meaning of lace.
